Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 19 (UNI) Braving cold weather devotees worshipped lord Malayappaswamy on the fifth day of the brahmotsavam here this morning.
The bejewelled Sri Malayappaswamy in 'Mohini Avatar' mounted on an ivory palanquin with golden parrot was taken out in a procession through the four mada streets.
Devotees chanted ''Govinda, Govinda' when the deity was taken out of the temple.
TTD Chairman B Karunakara Reddy and other top TTD officials were present on the occasion.
After the 'unjal seva' by the priests inside the temple in the evening, lord Malayappaswamy adorned with precious jewels like ''Lakshmi haram and Makara Kantika'' would be placed on the 'Garuda Vahanam and taken around the four mada streets in the night.
The 'Garuda Vahanam procession would start around 2100 hrs and culminate at 0100 hrs. The 'silk vastram' presented by Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy would be adorned to the deity.
A thick security cover was made by the police in Tirumala hills following the recent bomb blasts at Hyderabad, and the attack on former Chief Minister N Janardhana Reddy in Nellore, in neighboring Chittoor district.
