Bangalore, Sep 19 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Home Minister M P Prakash today expressed regret over torching of a Tamil Nadu bus in which two passengers were charred to death.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Prakash also regretted the attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's daughter's residence here last night.
He said the Chief Minister had expressed regret to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Mr Karunanidhi and assured protection to the Tamilians living in Karnataka.
Alleging that the incident was aimed at creating a rift between the Tamils and Kannadigas, living in harmony in the state, he said the people behind the incident would not succeed in their attempt.
However, whichever organisation they belonged to, strict instructions had been given to bring the culprits to book, he added.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutha Rao said additional forces were deployed in front of Ms Selvi's house.
He said according to evidence available both the incidents did not seem to be connected with each other.
However, nine people were taken into custody for questioning.
