Vigilance department attaches property of tainted education offici

Jammu, Sep 18 (UNI) The State Vigilance Organisation, has today attached a three storeyed house with three shops on the ground floor along with land measuring 2.5 marlas of an education official in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

The tainted property, belonging to Mumtaz Hussain Bhat Junior Assistant (diet) Poonch valued over Rs 17 lakhs, has been attached under the provisions of amended Prevention of Corruption Act.

The house search of the suspect official conducted during the investigation revealed movable property in the shape of fittings and furniture, gold and cash valued around Rs one lakh, sources said.

They added that the official, purchased a piece of land measuring 5 marlas in Mohalla Jarnali, Poonch in the year 1997 for Rs 55,000 as per the sale deed but actually the prevalent rate at the time of purchase could not have been less than Rs two lakh.

A case has been registered against Mumtaz Hussain Bhat following verification by the Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation, in which it was prima-facie established that he was in possession of disproportionate assets.

The SSP (PRK) Vigilance Organisation, Jammu had issued the attachment orders for the attachment of three storeyed building at Poonch belonging to the accused official, which was taken into possession.
