UPA trying to divert attention from 'Ram Setu' issue: Solanki
Bhopal, Sep 18 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra BJP unit Incharge Kaptan Singh Solanki today said ''political drama'' over Union Minister Ambika Soni's resignation is intended to divert people's attention from the 'Ram Setu' issue.
''The UPA Government, which severely hurt public sentiment over the 'Ram Setu' issue, is trying to cover up its mistake by blowing Ms Soni's resignation out of proportion,'' Mr Solanki told UNI here.
However, he said, the mistake could not be compensated in any manner.
Mr Solanki said the Centre had made its intentions clear by filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court questioning the existence of Lord Rama.
He said denying existence of Lord Rama was an unforgivable crime in a country where people had deep faith in Lord Rama and Ramayana.
The BJP leader said 'Ram Setu' was not a political issue for his party. On the other hand, it was a matter of faith of several people, who revered Lord Rama as an 'Adarsh Purush (ideal man)' in Indian culture since thousands of years.
He alleged that the Congress was misleading people by showing infighting over the issue. It was beyond comprehension that a mistake like this could occur with any intention.
Mr Solanki said even management colleges were thinking about teaching about Lord Rama.
He said the UPA Government, which was already facing criticism over the Indo-US nuclear deal, has proved that it was unclear about its direction.
Mr Solanki added that the UPA Government had put the prestige of the country on stake over the nuclear deal and 'Ram Setu' issue.
