TAAI meet in Tamil Nadu from October 5

Kolkata, Sep 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TNTDCL) is organising the convention of Travel Agent Association of India (TAAI) in Tamil Nadu from October 5 to 8 to find ways to attract tourists.

Announcing this here today, TNTDCL Managing Director Dr M Rajaram said the three-day convention would deliberate on a number of measures to help attract domestic and foreign tourists.

Dr Rajaram said the tourist arrival to Tamil Nadu was on constant increase adding that the state registered an unprecedented growth of 21 per cent in tourist arrivals last year.

He said Tamil Nadu was developing world class medical centres at Chennai, Vellore, Coimbatore and Madurai and in association with Super Speciality Hospitals was promoting medical tourism in a big way in the state.

Dr Rajaram informed that with the support of the Union Tourism Ministry projects like Chettinad Destination Development, World Heritage Circuits, Adi Sankara Circuits and Navagraha Circuits were being implemented in the state.

''Tamil Nadu is one of the leading states of the country in tourist arrivals and tourism promotion and the Eastern India, specially Kolkata is a major source of tourist arrivals to Tamil Nadu,'' he observed.
