Lucknow, Sep 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is making all efforts for the survey and verification of huge Waqf properties spread across Uttar Pradesh under the provisions of Waqf Act 1995.

In a circular to all district magistrates and additional Waqf survey commissioner, state UP chief secretary Prashant Kumar Mishra has asked for strict action in cases of unauthorised encroachment and sale of Waqf properties.

Mr Mishra has directed that the work on survey and verification of waqf properties, that started on August 28, be completed within six months.

The chief secretary said during verification, it should be ascertained as to what was the income of the respective waqf property before exemption from rent control act and what was the increase in its income thereafter.

Besides, whether the waqf property was getting the rent on market rate or not has also to be ascertained.

All steps are to be taken to ensure that all the waqf properties are registered with the Waqf Board.

Such waqf properties would also be identified, which can be developed commercially for better financial gains, he said.
