Simi, Irina pose strong challenge

Chandigarh, Sept 18 (UNI) Local favourite Irina Brar will face a stiff challenge from Simi Mehra in the second leg of the DLF Women's Professional Golf Tour which will tee off tomorrow at the 72-par Chandigarh Golf Course here.

The three-day tournament is being conducted under the auspices of the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI).

Simi Mehra is the winner of the first leg played in Delhi last week. Besides Irina Brar and Simi Mehra, Parnita Garewal and Shalini Malik will also vie for the winner's cheque of Rs 40,000 out of a total prize money of Rs 1.70 lakh. The day's best card carries a cash award of Rs 10,000. The eight-leg tour for 2007-8 will be played for a total prize money of Rs 13.50 lakh.

The Tour will culminate with the Ladies Indian Open in March next year at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
