Recommendations of land reforms commission to be implemented
Patna, Sep 18 (UNI) The Bihar government today gave the 'go-ahead' on implementation of recommendations of the interim report submitted by the State Land Reforms Commission.
State Cabinet Secratary Girish Shankar told news persons here that a decision to this effect was taken by the body this evening.
He said the Cabinet had also approved a proposal to hire the services of retired additional deputy collectors and amins on contract basis for carrying out the spade works, aimed at accelerating the pace of land reforms in Bihar.
''Of the total 6.48 lakh acres of land, donated under Bhoodan Yojana, more than 2.78 lakh remained undistributed among the landless farmers,''he said adding the land distribution programme would be initiated again from October 1, 2007 and the process would be completed by December 2009.
