New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent surgery for a prostate gland problem on Saturday, was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences today.
Dr Singh, who was convalescing at AIIMS for four days after the operation for benign prostatic hypertrophy, was back at his official residence at 7 Race Course Road at 1900 hrs, a PMO spokesman said.
''The Prime Minister is healthy and doing well,'' he said.
He will work from his residence for a few days before attending his South Block office, the official said.
It is, however, not clear whether visitors would be allowed to meet him. At the hospital, only relatives were allowed.
Earlier, Prof K Srinath Reddy, Chairman, Medical Expert Panel for the Prime Minister, had observed that Dr Singh was doing well after the surgery.
The operation was performed by a team of doctors led by Prof N P Gupta, Head of the Department of Urology at AIIMS.
