National Boxing Camp in full swing
Patiala, Sep 18: The National Boxing Coaching Camp, which got underway on September 7 at the NIS here, is in full swing.
Of the 34 boxers who are in the camp, four of them -- Jitendra Kumar, Akhil Kumar, Prabhakar and Manoj -- left for Khazakistan on September 13 for one month training. Mittal Group, which has a huge steel network in Khazakistan, has sponsored the training of these boxers.
It is reliably learnt that nine boxers are likely to represent India in the World Boxing Championship (WBC) slated for October 23 to November 3 in Chicago. It will be the first qualifying meet for Beijing Olympics.
Eight national boxing coaches, a masseur, a physiotherapist and a doctor are supervising the training of the boxers in the ongoing camp.
