Musharraf to doff uniform after re-election: Lawyer
Islamabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will quit as Army chief immediately after his re-election as President for another term, the military ruler's lawyer told the country's Supreme Court today.
''He would quit his uniform, as his presidential tenure will end,'' President's counsel Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada told the apex court which is hearing petitions challenging Gen Musharraf holding dual offices.
A nine-judge bench headed by Justice Rana Bhagwandas will hear constitutional petitions challenging the dual offices of the President regularly on day to day basis from today.
Security forces were deployed in strength around the court premises.
Muttahida Majlis Amal (MMA) leaders Liaquat Baloch and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
