Merger of subsidiary banks with SBI opposed
Bhopal, Sep 18 (UNI) Opposing the proposed merger of seven subsidiary banks with the State Bank of India, employees of the affected banks today staged a demonstration in front of the divisional office of the State Bank of Indore here.
The agitation was in response to a call given by the All India State Bank of Indore Employees Coordination Committee (AISBIECC) and the All India State Bank of Indore Officers Coordination Committee (AISBIOCC).
AISBIECC general secretary J P Janwar said merger of banks, which provided services in accordance with cultural and social atmosphere of a particular region, would destroy social banking.
He said a nationwide strike would be called on September 27 to protest the proposed merger.
A proposal was passed on August 25 regarding merging subsidiary banks with the SBI.
