Puducherry, Sep 18 (UNI) The local unit of the Tamil Nadu Thouheed Jamaat today urged the territorial administration to provide reservation for Muslims as was done by the Tamil Nadu government in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here, Jamaat President S M Dahsin and spokesman Peer Mohammed said though a resolution seeking to provide 6.9 per cent quota for Christians and 6.1 per cent for Muslims was adopted in the territorial asssmbly 18 months ago, nothing had materialised so far as there was no follow-up.

Urging the government to provide reservation for Muslims either by promulgating an ordinance or enacting a legislation, they said if the Congress government failed to immediately take the initiative, the Jamaat, after Ramzaan and Bakrid festivals, would organise an agitation in which all the Muslims in Puducherry would take part.
