Hospital staff go on strike against arrest of drug inspector
Kaithal, Sept 18 (UNI) The health services in the entire district were hit today as para medical staff went on a strike to protest against the arrest of District Drug inspector Sunil Dahiya in a bribery case by a State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) team here yesterday.
The doctors in Civil Hospital here though did not formally join the striking laboratory, technicians, radiologists and class four employees, but most doctors did not attend the patients in the OPD.
Keeping in view the sentiments and demand of the striking employees the deputy commissioner S. K. Goel has ordered an inquiry by the SDM Jagdish Sharma in to the episode of raid conducted by SVB leading to the arrest of Drug inspector Dahiya.
Dr R.P. Dahiya, civil surgeon, said emergency health services were being maintained at the civil hospital here. Elsewhere, in the district, except Siwan where some employees had gone on strike, the situation was normal, he added.
The striking employees, who sat in a dharna outside the hospital building, said that their protest will continue till the government withdrew case registered against the Drug Inspector. They also demanded a magisterial inquiry by a senior officer.
