Heavy rains lash Kolhapur, Nasik and Mumbai
Kolhapur, Sep 18 (UNI) Moderate to heavy rains today lashed parts of Maharashtra, including Kolhapur, Nasik and Mumbai, disrupting normal life and movement of rail and road traffic.
A total of 364 mm rainfall was recorded in Kolhapur district, with the highest 58 mm recorded in Gaganbavada tehsil.
The rains began this morning and lashed the district till 1600 hours. Panhala registered 57 mm rainfall, the spokesman of the district collector's office said.
Vehicular traffic on the Kolhapur-Konkan route via Bhuibavada ghat section was disrupted following landslides due to heavy rains, he said.
Reports from Nashik said the city and parts of the district were lashed by heavy rains.
According to district administration sources, the Godavari river and its catchment areas here received 108 mm of rains till 1800 hrs.
Alert has been sounded to people living on the banks of Godavari.
Ratnagiri and Solapur also experienced moderate rainfall.
However, there were no reports of any casualties due to rains.
Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall since this afternoon, leading to water-logging in some low-lying areas.
The trains on Western, Central and Harbour lines were running late by 10-15 minutes.
