Fourth day of Brahmotsavam at Lord Venkateswara Temple

Tirumala, Sep 18 (UNI) Braving rain, thousands of devotees worshipped Sri Malayappa Swamy and his consorts when the idols were taken around the four mada streets on the fourth-day of the 'Brahmotsavam' festival of Lord Venkateswara temple here today.

With the caparisoned temple elephants at the front, priests recited hymns while women, including young girls clad in colourful dresses enthralled the pilgrims with their '' kolattam '' and dance.

Before the ''Unjal Seva'', the sacred garlands received from Goddess Andal of Srivilliputtur in Tamil Nadu, would be taken in a procession from ''Pedda Jeeyangar Mutt'' to the Srivari temple through the four mada streets.

The sacred garlands would be adorned to the processional deity Malayappa Swamy tomorrow night when he would be taken on ''Garuda Vahanam'', which is the main event of the nine-day 'Brahmotsavams'.
