Nashik, Sep 18 (UNI) Former corporator of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) Mama Thakare was critically injured after two persons allegedly attacked him in CIDCO area of the city today.
As per the complaint filed by one Gangadhar Ahire, a resident of Indira Nagar here, he and his friend Mama Thakre, the former Shiv Sena corporator, were trying to start a scooter outside the latter's office in Shivaji Chowk, old CIDCO area, when they were attacked by one Maruti Phad and another unidentified person with a sickle, police said.
In the attack, Mr Thakre received injuries on one hand and neck.
He has been admitted to the incentive care unit of a private hospital in the city. His condition is said to be serious. The attackers fled after the attack.
Ambad police have registered a case against the duo under sections 307, 427, 39 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 135 of Mumbai Police Act.
Meanwhile, in a similar incident late last night, a clash broke out between two groups in Ashoknagar area of the city.
Police have detained 11 persons in this connection. A case has been registered under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 323, 324, 326, 504, 50, 427, 135 of the IPC.
