Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Sep 18 (UNI) Hours ahead of the visit of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani tomorrow, security measures have been tightened in Tirunelveli town.
The former Deputy Prime Minister would address the State General Body meeting of the state unit of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and deliver his address in the backdrop of recent political developments following the controversial Indo-US civilian nuclear agreement and the Sethusamudaram Project.
Police sources said Mr Advani would arrive at Tuticorin airport tomorrow morning by a private airline and reach Tirunelveli by road. After attending the party meeting, he would leave for Madurai, where he would stay at the Government Circuit House. The next day, he would visit the historic Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai to offer worship and leave for Chennai the same day enroute to New Delhi.
In view of his visit, a large number of policemen have been deployed in the town and arrangements would be ''exhaustive,'' a senior police official told UNI.
Similarly, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Madurai in view of Mr Advani's visit.
