CNG buses to run in Rajkot city from October 12

Rajkot, Sep 18 (UNI) After installation of CNG bus stations in the city, the people of Rajkot would avail the city bus services running on CNG from October 12.

Speaking to UNI, City Mayor Dhansukh Bhanderi said initially 32 mini-buses would ply on the road on certain routes from the first day of the Navratri festival. The city bus fare will be Rs two to Rs 8.

In next one-and-half year, nearly 102 CNG buses would ply on the roads and would cover entire Rajkot city. City buses would be available every 15 minutes from the strategic points, Mr Bhanderi said.

Senior citizens and students would be provided concession and passes would also be introduced for them, Mr Bhanderi said.

A mini bus has a capacity of 32 seats, and 30 others could stand in the bus.

Junagadh-based private transport agency would manage the city bus services. One mini-bus would cost Rs 15.25 lakh, the mayor said.
