CMO among 3 medicos suspended for dereliction of duty

Lucknow, Sep 18 (UNI) Taking a dim view of medical lapses during Chief Justice Of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan's visit to Allahabad, the Uttar Pradesh government had suspended three doctors, including Allahabad Chief Medical Officer (CMO), state Medical Secretary Anant Kumar said today.

Talking to UNI here tonight, Mr Kumar said CMO Dr S M Singhvi, senior consultants Dr P N Nadar and Dr S P Bajpai were found guilty of the mismanagement in the treatment of CJI's wife Nirmila Balakrishnan and subsequently, suspended late yesterday.

Besides, T B Sapru hospital Chief Medical Superintendent Dr R B Singh, staff members Dr Surya Prakash, Dr Amitabh Basu and Dr R S Shukla had been transferred with immediate effect, he added.

Abdul Salaam, who was on duty with the CJI fleet, has also been suspended.

On Saturday, the CJI's wife was injured in an accident, while en route to attend a programme at the Allahabad High Court. The doctors in the fleet were found missing.
