Vadodara, Sep 18 (UNI) BJP will decide its future course of action on the controversial Ram Sethu affidavit issue at the party's three-day national working committee meeting, scheduled to be held in Bhopal from September 21, said Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Jaswant Singh here today.

Talking to newsmen Mr Singh said the manner in which the Ram Sethu affidavit was filed by the Centre in the apex court and subsequently withdrawn had clearly indicated that the UPA government was functioning in a most 'irresponsible manner'.

Asked whether BJP was planning to move the court of law, seeking legal action against those behind the Sethu affidavit, the former external affairs minister said his party was considering all legal angles on the issue.

Singh, who is on a two-day private visit to Vadodara, lamented that the affidavit which was prepared ignoring the Hindu sentiments, had outraged the faith of crores of Hindus.

Referring to the Indo-US nuclear deal, the BJP leader said the Congress party was squarely responsible for the stand off on the issue as neither Parliament nor the people of the country were taken into confidence.

Only because of the government's rigidity, Mr Singh said the proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were stalled.

During Vajpayee's regime in January, 2004, the NDA government did agree with the US for Next Step in Strategic Partnership (NSSP) deal in order to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries, but they had never compromised with national interests, Mr.Singh said and demanded that the UPA government must make its stand clear on the non-proliferation issue.

When his attention was drawn to the growing rebellion against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Mr Singh said this sort of things was common during every election because of distribution of party tickets.
