Lucknow, Sep 18 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today dismissed from service 3964 newly recruited policemen and suspended six Indian Police Service (IPS) officials involved in the police recruitment scam during the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav regime.
With this appointments of 10,468 cops have been cancelled by the state government and 18 IPS officials have been suspended so far in the police recruitment scam.
State principal secretary (home) J N Chamber told reporters here today the government has decided to cancel appointments of 3964 newly recruited cops through 10 services boards following large scale irregularities detected by the probe committee.
He said ,however, cops appointed by Saharanpur service board was given clean chit by the committee though they detected some minor lapses.
Earlier on September 11,state government annulled recruitment of 6504 cops made by 14 of the 55 police recrutiment boards for mass irregularities while five of the boards were given clean chit.
Altogether 12 IPS officials were also suspended ,who were responsible for the recruitment.
The recruitments were made between 2005-06 when Mr Yadav was the Chief Minister.
The state government had on September 12 registered cases against 70 police officials, including 12 IPS officials for their alleged involvement in the police recruitment scam.
The inquiry committee probing the scam has recommended registering of corruption cases against 12 senior police officials, 18 Additional SPs and 40 DSPs. Cases has been registered under various provisions of IPC including 420, 419, 467, 468 and 471 and have been sent to police stations concerning 14 recruitment boards for inquiry.
The 12 suspended officials include Chavinath Singh (IG), RN Yadav, SK Mathur, BP Jogdand, Shailendra Pratap Singh, BN Tripathi, BB Bakshi and Akhilesh Mehrotra (all DIGs) and SK Gupta and K Satyanarayan(both SP rank).
