1484 acre land acquired in Haryana for SEZs

Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) A total of 1484 acre land had been acquired in Haryana for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Rs 345 crore had been paid as compensation in this regard.

''The total land acquired for the SEZs is 1484 acre, 4 canal and 19 marla. The total amount of compensation was Rs 245.64 crore,'' Industries Minister Lachhman Das Arora told the state assembly during the Question Hour today.

In reply to another question, the Minister said there was no proposal to set up SEZs on the wastelands in the state.

''At present, there is no proposal with the state government for utilising wastelands for setting up SEZs,'' he said.

Public Works Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said Rs 1004 crore had been earmarked for the construction of roads and repair of roads during the current financial year.
