Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) Yusuf Memon, a 1993 Mumbai serial blast convict and younger brother of prime accused Tiger Memon, today appeared before the TADA court after his release from jail on bail as per the directive of the apex court .
Yusuf Memon was awarded life imprisonment by the designated court but was granted interim bail along with two of his other relatives by the apex court last week on the grounds that they had not been provided with copies of the judgement.
Yusuf Memon's sister-in-law Rubina Memon was released on bail and freed from jail last Friday. But, his brother Issa Memon, who has also been granted bail, will be released tomorrow as the formalities of his release were completed only late this evening. Yusuf and Issa were lodged in the Aurangabad jail while Rubina was lodged in Pune's Yerawada jail. Yakoob Memon, who was awarded the death sentence and is lodged in Nagpur jail, did not apply for bail.
The Memon family had masterminded the March 12, 1993 blasts in the metropolis in which 257 persons were killed and 517 injured while property worth crores of rupees were destroyed.
