New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) Vikas Yadav, main accused in the Nitish Katara murder case and son of former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav, today withdrew his bail application from the Supreme Court.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and D K Jain permitted senior Counsel K T S Tulsi to withdraw his petition. Earlier, Mr Tulsi contended before the court that it was a case of zero evidence against his client, hence he should be released on the bail.
The apex court, however, was not inclined to grant Vikas Yadav bail and told his Counsel to examine all his witnesses speedily, to facilitate expeditious conclusion of the trial.
Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav along with others are facing trial for kidnapping and murdering Nitish Katara as they were opposed to Katara's affair with Bharti Yadav, sister of Vikas Yadav.
Vikas is in jail since 2002. He has already been convicted and sentenced in Jessica Lal murder case and has been awarded four year imprisonment for the offence of destruction of evidence.
