ULFA leader Prabal Neog arrested
Guwahati, Sept 17 (UNI) Top ULFA leader and 'commandant' of the outfit's most dreaded '28th battalion' Prabal Neog was arrested from Tezpur town in Sonitpur district of Assam today.
Official sources said he was arrested by the Assam Police personnel based on specific information.
Neog's wife was also with him at the time of the arrest. Rs 2.80 lakh in cash and large number of incriminating documents were recovered from him.
Neog's arrest is by far the most prized catch for the counter-insurgency mechanism in the state in recent times. He is suspected to have masterminded all the blasts, killings and extortions in the entire Upper Assam region, where the ULFA is most active,police added.
