Ambala, Sep 17 (UNI) A Mahapanchyat of people in Dhar area here has decided not to pay taxes and electricity bills and ban entry of political leaders to protest against the alleged discrimination by the government resulting in utter neglect of the region. In a Mahapanchayat at village Rasulpur, people from Shivalik sub mountainous belt of Sadhaura, Bilaspur, Chhachhrauli and parts of Naraingarh, also resolved to resort to a non-cooperation movement.
The Mahapanchayat, while expressing great concern over the backwardness of the region, warned that if the government did not pay attention to the development of the area, the people would be compelled to resort to stronger agitational measures.
The Mahapanchayat also formed an action committee and said leaders would soon meet the Chief Minister and the Governor to press for their demand for water, power, education and employment.
The action committee spokesman Jarnail Singh informed that all units at block level would be formed shortly to streamline the working of the Action Committee.
About a dozen leaders from different parts of the Dhar area spoke on the occasion.
