Nahan, Sep 17 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and MP P K Dhumal today demanded a high-level inquiry into the death of former Additional Advocate General Sandeep Kaushik in a road accident recently, saying the state government had reasons to eliminate him.

The state government has reasons to eliminate Kaushik, who had filed several PILs, including HPCPMT and appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPSs) and Parliamentary Secretaries (PSs), in the state high court, Prof Dhumal told mediapersons here.

He said state Chief Minister Virbahdra Singh was on record being expressed his anguish over the PILs filed in the courts, saying that a ''PIL mafia'' was thriving in Himachal.

Accusing the state police of not taking Kaushik's death seriously, he said apart from failing to arrest the driver of the Mahindra pick up that rammed into the lawyer's car, the papers of the jeep, registered at Chandigarh, have turned out to be fake.

''This gives rise to suspicion that Kaushik, who was convenor of the BJP's legal cell, had been eliminated,'' the former cm said.

Demanding a high-level inquiry into the accident, he said the government should direct the state police to arrest the erring driver, who was still absconding.

Kaushik was killed and his wife and son seriously injured after a Mahindra pick up crashed into their car near Sanwara, about 20 km from Solan, on the Shimla-Kalka National Highway at about 1300 hrs on Saturday.
