Jaunpur, Sep 17 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said challenging the existence of Lord Ram was the 'height of appeasement' and both Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should apologise on the issue.
''Raising questions on the existence of Lord Ram has hurt the sentiments of Hindu community. The doubt expressed in the affidavit, filed by the central government in the Supreme Court, has marred the faith of the crores of Hindus,'' BJP state unit president Ramapati Ram Tripathi said here yesterday.
'Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should apologise for hurting the feelings of Hindu communtiy.' The BJP leader further termed the RamSethu issue a 'political vendetta' of the Congress.
''The non-BJP governments in UP had raised the criminalisation rate in the state,'' Mr Tripathi said.
