Allahabad, Sep 17 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government order dismissing the services of 6,504 constables of the civil police and the Provincial Armed Constabulary appointed by the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in the year 2005-2006 at 14 centres has been challenged in the Allahabad High Court.
The state government had cancelled the appointment of 6,504 constables on September 11,2007, on the grounds of irregularities, fraud and illegal appointment.
The petitioners in the writ petition have alleged that the impugned order of cancellation of appointments of constables is illegal, arbitrary, politically motivated and against police regulation.
It may be recalled that Inspector General (IG) of Police establishment, UP, Director General of Police headquarters, Lucknow after the inquiry had cancelled appointment/selection of 6,504 constables.
The writ petition has been filed by Sonu Rathi and several others whose appointment as constable had been cancelled by the government order of September 11, 2007.
