Rain deficient Himachal goes without rain

Shimla, Sep 16 (UNI) Rain deficient Himachal Pradesh went without rain and snow for the second day today following a weakened monsoon, the office said today.

The state, which has 34 deficient rainfall during this monsoon season, went without rain and snow for the second day today after the tribal district of Lahaual Spiti experienced mild spell of snow for two successive days during the last week.

The met office said almost all places in mid and lower hills of the state went without rain though clouds continued to hover over the sky during the day across the state.

The minimum temperature at Shimla rose by a degree to stand at 14.2 as against 13.2 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while the maximum stood at 23.1 degree Celsius as against 23.2 degrees recorded yesterday, it said.

However, the night temperatures at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Kalpa remained more or less stationary at 19.7, 17.1 and 7.4 degree Celsius as compared to 19.6, 17.6 and 7.4 degree Celsius respectively recorded yesterday.

Similarly, the maximum at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Kalpa recorded maximum temperatures of 32.2, 32.8 and 24.4 degree Celsius as compared to 31.9, 32.5 and 23.6 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

The met office has forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
