Manipur to participate in business meet at Thailand

Imphal, Sep 16 (UNI) A 17-member delegation led by Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh will represent the state in the 'North-East India Investment Opportunities Week' to be organised in Bangkok, Thailand from October one to four.

The meet will be held with the joint initiative of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), commerce ministry, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Thailand, state Commerce Industries Principal Secretary P Lawmkunga here today said.

Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Commerce and Industries Minister Y Erabot, state Congress Chief Gaikhangam would be in the team among others.

Handicrafts from Manipur would be displayed in the exhibition to be inaugurated by Thailand Commerce Minister Kirik-Krai Jirapaet.

''The state will take all possible efforts to attract investors in the fields of food processing, horticulture, tourism, power, information technology, handloom and handicrafts in this NE state,'' planning director K Mangi Singh said.

DoNER Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar would be also present on the ocassion.

The meeting would discuss on opportunities in tourism and hospitality, opportunities for investment in the North-East along with focus on infrastructure, agro and food.
