Indian Coast Guard observes Coastal Clean Up Day
Panaji, Sep 16 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard unit of Goa today observed International Coastal 'Clean Up Day' by organising garbage removal at Baina, Bogmalo and Miramar beaches of this tourist destination.
The operation involved the Coast Guard personnel, their family members, school children, NCC cadets, NGO's and volunteers.
Stressing the importance of the day, Deputy Inspector General of the Coast Guard unit, Mr M S Dangi said the day was observed to bring about awareness among the masses on importance of keeping the beaches clean.
''The future generations could enjoy the gift of nature if we keep the beaches litter-free, without releasing pollutants into the sea'', he added.
