Ram Setu rage: Cases against 8 BJP leaders
Puducherry, Sep 15: Police today registered cases against eight BJP office bearers, including party State President M Visweswaran, for allegedly burning copies of the affidavit submitted by the Union Government in the Supreme Court in the Ramsethu bridge case.
As part of the party's nationwide agitation, the Ramsethu Protection Committee of the BJP here had allegedly burnt copies of the affidavit after an office bearers' meeting last night.
However, no one was arrested yet.
According to epic Ramayana, the bridge was built by Lord Rama's army to cross over to Lanka. An affidavit filed by the Archaeological Survey of India in the apex court in connection with the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP) had questioned Lord Rama's existence, sparking a furore.
