Ramadoss lauds TN CM's efforts to implement SSCP

Tindivanam, Sep 15 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) Founder S Ramadoss today lauded Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's efforts to implement the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project(SSCP) to fulfil the long-cherished dream of the people in the State.

In a statement here, he alleged that Sri Lanka government was making frantic attempts to stall the project. Some vested interests and divisive forces in our country were following the footsteps of the Lankan government by creating difference of opinion on religious grounds and this needs to be condemned unequivocally, he added.

Dr Ramadoss said people's sentiments should be respected in religious matters. Experts, however, opined that Rama Sethu was not man made, he alleged.

He said efforts were made by witch-hunts to stop the progress of the state by treating Ram Sethu as a political issue and not as a social problem. The Central government should not succumb to the nefarious designs of the communal forces, he added.

The PMK founder also lauded the steps taken by the Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu on the issue.
