Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) In the wake of recent bomb blasts, the City Police today sought help of the citizens, owning video cameras, to assist the police in recording the events on September 25, the day when Ganesh idols would be taken out in a procession for immersion in various lakes in the city.

In an appeal to the public, City Police Commisioner Balwinder Singh said the citizens, shooting the events, should pass the footage to the police.

''The city police is making all arrangements for deploying about 1000 video cameras along the procession route at strategic locations to record the events. We wish to enrol the citizens, owning video cameras, to assist the police in recording the events at various places.'' ''Those volunteering can shoot the events on their own video cameras and hand over the cassettes/CD/DVD to the police, if something significant is recorded,'' he said, adding the police department would bear the cost of the cassette/CD/DVD.

He also asked ex-servicemen, below 55 years, to come forward and help the police from September 23. They would be paid Rs 200 per day.

About 12,000 idols from various parts of the city and neighbouring districts would be taken out in a procession for immersion at Hussain Sagar and other lakes in the city.
