One dead, three fall sick after guzzling country liquor

Hisar, Sep 15 (UNI) The celebrations over the birth of a son to a farm labourer here turned into a mourning when a man died and three others, including a woman, fell sick after consuming apparently adulterated country liquor served on the occasion last night, police today said.

According to police sources, Raju, a farm labourer hailing from Bihar's Motihari district who was working in the Khokha village of this district, had served the liquor in a late night party to celebrate his son's birth.

Soon after the consumption of the liquor, a guest named Majiter died while Raju, Kajanchi and Ranvati Devi fell seriously sick.

The sick persons were rushed to nearby private hospital where they had to be admitted for the treatment.

Police said it was trying to ascertain wheter the liquor, which seemed to be adulterated, was bought from a licensed shop or from some unauthorised brewer.
