Ludhiana, Sept 15 (UNI) While lauding the role of media in exposing several scams in the past, Manoranjan Kalia, Minister for Local Government, Punjab today stressed upon the need for self-analyses by the media.

Speaking on the launch of the Media Critique', the quarterly English magazine published by Media Centre Trust, Ludhiana here today, Mr Kalia touched the issue of yellow journalism.

Media was creating unnecessary hype on unnecessary issues, he claimed, adding that the media should never forget that it had great responsibility towards the society in a democracy.

He regretted that there were elements in media too, which were engaged in creating stories instead of presenting stories in a real sense.

''A reporter should never forget that he is a human being first'' he said advising that a media person should act as a human being in protecting life of a person first instead of giving priority to performing his professional duty.
