Hardwar, Sep, 15 (UNI) Welcoming the Centre's withdrawal of the affidavit on Ramsethu from the Apex Court, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev has said that the issue of whether the Ramsethu is natural or man made may be a point of debate, but the existence of Lord Ram cannot be questioned.
Addressing the Patanjali Yog Peeth here yesterday, he warned the politicians of the country against politicising the issues pertaining to people's faith.
''Lord Ram was at the centre of faith of crore of Hindus in the country and abroad,'' he said.
''To say that Lord Ram and other characters of the Ramayana were fictitious is an affront to the sentiments of the entire Hindu community,'' the Swami added.
Replying to a question about the suggestion of a Judge of the Allahabad High Court whether the Bhagwat Gita should be declared ''the national book'' of the country, he said it is not a religious book of one particular community, but a spiritual book propounding the universal truths about the 'art of living'.
''The relevance of the teachings of the Gita is not confined to one country and one community. Its appeal transcends the narrow boundaries of times and climes'', the Swami said.
The Yoga Guru further said India was already a super power from the social and cultural point of view but it should also be an economic super power. To achieve this, the concept of Swadeshi should be promoted.
He further said by promoting Yoga and ayurveda, annual expenditure of Rs 5,00,000 crore on health services and allopathic drugs trade could be cut down by 50 per cent and the huge amount of money saved thereby could be used for the country's development. The Yoga Guru also said population control and planned economic development were essential to make India a super power.
