Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today refuted the allegations levelled by a senior IAS official and retired Vigilance Commissioner R C Samal that he had failed to take action against the corrupt officials.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy said ''the official might have lost his mental balance as he was making wild allegations without knowing the facts. It is not good to tarnish the image of a senior political leader.'' The government should study the background of the officials before appointing them in high positions, he said, adding the state government should also conduct inquiry into the corruption practised by the senior official during his tenure.
Stating that he never sought an MLA's ticket from any political party nor clamoured for ministerial berth during his 25-year political career, Mr Reddy said Mr Samal had crossed his limits by making allegations against him.
Mr Reddy said the state Cabinet should also study the remarks made against him.
''Mr Samal has no authority to give instructions to the ministers on corruption as his duty was to advice the government only,'' Mr Reddy added.
