Gandhinagar, Sep 15 (UNI) The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) today approved a grant of Rs 4.50 crore to its affiliated cricket associations in nine districts for the development of infrastructure, acquirement of equipments, and land procurement for grounds for the year 2007-08.
The Association is preparing for the one-day match on September 26 between India and South Africa at Motera Stadium at Ahmedabad, GCA president Narhari Amin informed.
Preparations have also been made for the four day-and-night one-day matches under the Challenger Trophy to be played in the same stadium, Mr Amin said.
Talking about the development of cricket in Gujarat, Mr Amin said that GCA is running academy in every district where it contributes Rs 1.5 lakh every month for coaching and cricket balls.
The GCA has also decided to promote women's cricket by organising camps in schools and colleges in every district, he said.
