Ganesha decoration competition goes on-line

Mumbai, Sep 15 (UNI) The Vishwa Samwad Kendra is holding an on-line competition, 'My Ganesh' during the on-going Ganesha festival in order to encourage talent in decorating the idols of Ganesha.

The contest, which is first of its kind, is meant exclusively for the household Ganapatis.

Lakhs of people perform Ganesh puja at home and decorate the Lord of fortune aesthetically, unlike the ones at the public puja mandals. To encourage such household decorators, this on-line 'My Ganesha' competition is being organised, a Kendra release said today.

''In this high-tech age, information is being exchanged at a tremendous pace. And the internet can be effectively used to involve a large number of people in a competition like this,'' the release informed.

Innovation, originality and eco-friendly are some of the criteria which will decide the winners. The first prize winner will get Rs 5,001 in cash.

People can participate in the competition from their homes by logging on the website, www.vskmumbai.com, the release added.
