Jaipur, Sep 15 (UNI) A commission to look into the demand of economic status based reservation for the poor and needy including those from higher castes, is expected to be constituted soon in Rajasthan, BJP state president Dr Mahesh Sharma said.
Talking to reporters here today, Dr Sharma said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who also holds the Finance portfolio, had already made announcement regarding such commission during her last budget speech in the state assembly earlier this year.
''The formal constitution of the commission with appointment of its chairperson is expected to be formalised soon'', he added.
He said that since the Bharatiya Jansangha era, the BJP had always been advocating for economic status based reservation for extending the benefits to poor and needy people from higher castes.
The BJP chief's statement came in the wake of threat of agitation by a number of community outfits from Rajputs, Brahmins and Rajpurohits to stress for the demand of reservation benefits for their respective community people in the state.
