Puducherry, Sep 15 (UNI) A coastal clean-up campaign will be organised here tomorrow to mark the International Coastal Cleanup Day.
According to an official release here today, a massive coastal clean-up operation would be carried out in the coastal stretches of Puducherry, Karaikal and Mahe regions. Besides, various types of wastes would be segregated, quantified and recorded to keep a track of debris collection.
The campaign, jointly organised by the Departments of Science and Technology, Environment and Local Administration and Indian Coast Guard, would be launched by Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy at Ganapathichettikkulam, near here, in the presence of Education Minister M O H F Shajahan.
International Coastal Clean-up Day was a voluntary effort organised in over 90 countries to cleanup the coastal environment and create awareness about coastal conservation among the public.
Students from NSS and Department of Ecology and Environmental Science in Pondicherry University, Local Administration department staff, NGOs and public would take up volunteer work.
