Vadodara, Sep 15 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today announced that her party would contest all 182 seats in the coming Gujarat Assembly elections without having any alliance with other political parties.

Talking to mediapersons on the eve of her party workers' Mahasammelan here, Ms Mayawati said for the first time in the BSP's electoral history her party returned to power in Uttar Pradesh with an absolute majority reversing all speculation. '' If this could happen in UP, why can't we do it in Gujarat?'' she asked.

''Whether we are weak or strong in any part of Gujarat, we will field candidates in all 182 assembly constituencies in the state and will be successful as we were in UP elections,'' the BSP supremo said.

Replying to a question regarding the growing rebellion in the ruling BJP in Gujarat, Ms Mayawati said BSP's doors were always open for those leaders and workers who felt neglected or ignored by any party in the state.

Asked if her party was even ready to take those with criminal backgrounds, the BSP chief said, ''I am not a newcomer in politics.

I know who is to be accepted and who is to be rejected.'' Late in the evening, the BSP supremo inducted former Gujarat BJP minister Nalin Bhatt along with 82 of his supporters into her party fold at a function held at a hotel where she would be staying during her two-day visit to the state.
