BSNL launches "BSNL on Voice" and Customer care portal in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 (UNI) Telecom major BSNL and OnMobile, an infosys --incubated company, today jointly launched the value added service 12555 under the brand name ''BSNL on Voice'' and Customer care portal for both landline and mobile customers of Orissa here today.

Talking to newsmen here, BSNL Orissa Telecom Circle Chief General Manager Telecommunication (CGMT) S M Talwar said BSNL had planned to expand its business operation in Orissa in in coming days by providing additional 94,500 WLL connections and 6.37 lakh mobile phone connections during 2007-08.

Mr Talwar said so far 264 out of the 314 block head quarters had been covered under mobile phone connection and planned to cover all block head quarters by the end of this fiscal.

Similarly in WLL sector out of the company's capacity to provide 1,74,750 connections, 1,37,015 had already been given.

The work, he said, was in progress to provide 45,750 WLL connections and an additional 94,500 connections by March next. BSNL had also planned to lay 31,00 km of additional optical fibre in the current year and open 900 PCOs by next year, Mr Talwar added.

He further said 67,000 broadband multiplex connections would be provided to cover all the district headquarters during 2007-08 out of which 6000 lines will be provided by October next in the first phase.
