New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) The BJP today demanded the resignations of the ministers concerned, who filed the affidavit on belhalf of the government before the Supreme Court questioning the existence of Lord Ram, and saying the Government cannot get away with merely suspending two officials of the Archaelogical Survey of India.
Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said no government affidavit could be filed without the approval of the ministries concerned. He sought to know as to how could the ministers wash their hands off from the affidavit, now withdrawn by the Government.
''It was ridiculous that the Law Ministry was now denying it had read the draft of the affidavit,'' he said.
The ministries concerned were Culture, Shipping and Law.
The party maintained that it would continue its campaign against the Setu Samundaram project unless it got a clear assurance that Ram Setu would not be demolished and other alignments of the Setu Samundaram Canal would be considered.
The party has launched a nation-wide campaign to inform people about the alleged damages to be inflicted by the project if implemented in its present alignment.
Earlier, the party had held Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh responsible for the affidavit, seeking a public apology from them.
