Silchar, Sep 13 (UNI) An assistant teacher of Saiyadpur Janata ME School in Cachar district of Assam was arrested on charges of misappropriation of food materials meant for flood relief operations.
The accused Enam Uddin a teacher was found hoarding 1.5 quintals of rice and 30 kgs of pulses which were meant for distribution among the flood affected people of Katigora circle of Cachar district.
The teacher swindled off the material from the local village panchyat secretary in the name of a fake relief camp. He was arrested by the police on specefic complain, said the oficial press release.
District administration has warned severe action against any misappropriation of relief materials meant for flood victims in the South Assam region, the release added.
