Silchar, Sept 13 (UNI): Police today arrested Enam Uddin, an assistant teacher of Saiyadpur Janata ME School in Cachar district of Assam, for grabbing rice and dal meant for flood relief operations.
Official sources said the accused teacher was found of hoarding 1.5 quintals of rice and 30 kgs of dal which were meant for distribution among the flood affected people of Katigora circle of Cachar district.
'The teacher grabbed the material from the local gaon panchyet secretary in the name of a fake relief camp. On the basis of specific allegation police arrested him this evening,' said an official press release here.
District administration has warned of drastic action against any misappropriation of relief materials during the current wave of flood in this south Assam area, the release said.
