Robbers loot diamond after shooting trader

Palanpur, Gujarat, Sep 14 (UNI) A diamond trader was seriously injured after being shot at by two unidentified robbers who made away with a bag containing a diamond here last evening.

Sanjay Shevantilal Shah, partner in Ashish and Company, has been shifted to a private hospital in Mehasana where his condition was reported to be serious.

Two unidentified robbers, astride a motorcycle without a number plate, fired indiscriminately on Shah from close quarters last evening and then fled with the bag containing the diamond whose value is estimated at around Rs 50 lakh. Two bullets hit Shah in the abdomen while a third hit him on his back.

District police chief Vipul Aggarwal said a manhunt has been launched to trace the robbers. Police suspect the hand of an inter-state gang behind the robbery.
